Recently, there have been a number of cases involving sound effects companies that are offering "free" sound effects as an enticement for people to sign up for their free accounts. Often times this is in order to harvest email addresses and names for marketing purposes or to sell lists to other marketing companies. The problem is that some of these sites are using copyrighted materials illegally. When companies do this they are not only neglecting their customer's rights to privacy, but also placing them in potentially precarious legal dangers from the rightful copyright owners.

Over the coarse of the last few months, Sleep Deprived Productions has been pouring its heart and soul into uploading and adding new sound effects. It's a task that involves a lot of patience and motivation. The world of sound is never-ending, and thus needs constant attention, and a fresh ear for new things. Sometimes that means taking requests and finding out what other people may be after that we, as sound recordists, may not have thought to record before.

We will be uploading and adding new sounds until the end of time, but currently we are putting up bulks of sounds. We spent several months going through the world recording everything that we could get our hands on, and now it's the time to move all these up to the internet. Why the bulk-style work? Up until very recently Sleep Deprived Productions only focus was on visual effects work, music production, video and film editing, and 3D modeling and animation. The sound effects are a new venture and until March of 2008, the infrastructure did not exist for this new sound library.

Sound Effects are present in almost every media that you see and hear on a daily basis. From television, movies, and shorts to web sites, and digital music sound effects help tie the pieces together for your brain to understand. Their importance can easily be measured by their absence, when our minds quickly pick out the inconsistency.
